What the GrantCockpit can do: It clearly shows you the most relevant funding programs along the technology readiness levels (TRLs). You can see at a glance:
- How high the grants per program can be
- How large the program budgets are
- Who promotes – whether locally, nationally or at EU level
This allows you to quickly find the best funding landing sites for your innovation.
Click on a program and you will be redirected to further information or directly to the program’s website.
The research allowance has become exciting
Not every R&D project clears the hurdles for highly competitive funding programs. This is exactly where the research allowance comes into play: it is your proven “backup plan” for solid, but not top-qualified R&D ideas. And since the latest improvements (as of 2026), it has become even more attractive:
→ The research tax allowance from the Federal Ministry of Finance
It is considered one of the least bureaucratic R&D funding schemes in Germany and provides a direct tax credit (or payment) based on actual expenditure. Currently, the funding rate is 25% of the eligible costs – for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) even 35%. From 2026, there will also be a 20% lump sum for overheads and other operating costs – without the need for time-consuming verification. In addition, depreciation on R&D assets is now also included.
The result: no paperwork, higher effective funding and a maximum annual allowance of up to €3 million (or €4.2 million for SMEs) with the new assessment cap of €12 million per year.
Our GrantPilot automatically scans this opportunity – so that no funding option is left lying around.
The funding database
The GrantCockpit is good – but not everything. Because the funding sky is wide: there are hundreds of different programs – from local initiatives to federal programs to EU funding. To ensure that our GrantPilot doesn’t overlook any opportunities, he also uses one of his favorite navigation aids:
-> The funding database of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy
It is considered one of the most complete overviews of funding programs in Germany – and provides up-to-date information on grants, loans and development loans. We integrate it directly – so that you can browse for further funding landing sites at any time.
